Maryland Amblyopia Doctor
Making sure that your eye and your vision health are in check is important, and is especially important for children who are still growing and developing. In general, a child’s eyes are examined upon birth but it is generally recommended that children have their eyes examined again at six months old and definitely before they turn three years old. There are a number of different eye and vision deformities, conditions and other issues that may cause lifelong vision impairment such as amblyopia. Here at Maple Lawn Eye Care Center, our
Maryland amblyopia doctor can help when it comes to the diagnosis and treatment for this condition in order to help improve vision and overall eye health.
Amblyopia is a condition that is more commonly known as lazy eye. This is a condition wherein the visual information from one of the eyes is reduced because the two eyes are not in sync with the brain. It is a condition that often comes out of strabismus, which is when the eyes are out of alignment. When the eyes are not aligned, they are not looking inthe same direction and are often looking at different things at the same time, or are looking at the same thing but from vastly different angles. It can be difficult for the brain to process this information, so the brain may begin to phase out the visual information given by one of the eyes. As this occurs, the eye that the brain no longer communicates with may begin to drift, thus causing lazy eye. If caught early, this condition can be treated and potentially reversed. Here at Maple Lawn Eye Care Center, our
Maryland amblyopia doctor can examine a child’s eyes and determine whether they have this condition to begin with. Some parents may notice symptoms on their own but amblyopia can also be detected during a routine exam which is why such checkups are so important. With rehabilitation and curated exercise, amblyopia can be treated successfully.
If you notice any of the signs of amblyopia in your child, make sure that you see our
Maryland amblyopia doctor as soon as possible. Also, remember to schedule routine eye exams here with us at Maple Lawn Eye Care Center on a regular basis in order to help identify such issues as early on as possible.
